    The Battlefield of Lanka

During the great war in Lanka, Lord Rama's brother Lakshmana was struck down by the powerful weapon (Shakti) of Meghnad, Ravana's son. He fell unconscious, hovering between life and death, and the entire vanara army was plunged into grief. The royal physician Sushena declared that only one remedy could save him - the Sanjeevani herb that grew on the distant Dronagiri mountain in the Himalayas, and it had to be brought before sunrise.

    Hanuman's Flight to the Himalayas

Without a moment's hesitation, Hanuman rose into the sky and flew thousands of miles north toward the Himalayas. On the way, Ravana sent obstacles to stop him, but Hanuman's devotion and strength carried him through. He reached the towering Dronagiri mountain determined to find the glowing Sanjeevani herb and return in time to save Lakshmana's life.

Why Hanuman Lifted the Whole Mountain

On the mountain, Hanuman saw countless glowing herbs but could not tell which one was the Sanjeevani. With precious time slipping away and Lakshmana's life at stake, he made a swift, fearless decision - rather than guess wrong, he would lift the entire Dronagiri mountain and carry it back so the physician could pick the right herb himself. With one mighty effort he uprooted the whole mountain and flew back to Lanka, lighting up the night sky as he came.

    Lakshmana Is Saved

Hanuman reached Lanka before sunrise, mountain in hand. Sushena quickly found the Sanjeevani herb and administered it, and Lakshmana opened his eyes and rose, fully healed. Lord Rama embraced Hanuman with overflowing love, declaring that he could never repay such devotion. This single act sealed Hanuman's place as the greatest of devotees and the saviour of the moment when all hope seemed lost.

    Lessons from the Story

The story teaches timeless lessons: devotion gives us strength beyond our limits, and true service asks for total commitment, not half-measures. Hanuman's choice to lift the whole mountain shows the value of decisiveness - when a life depends on you, act boldly rather than freeze in doubt. It also reminds us that humility and selflessness, not pride in power, make an act truly great.

    Hanuman Mantra for Strength

To invoke Hanuman's courage and devotion in your own life, chant this mantra:

    Om Han Hanumate Namah

    or the well-loved

    Manojavam Maruta-tulya-vegam, jitendriyam buddhimatam varishtham.

Chant it 108 times on a Tuesday or Saturday before an image of Hanuman to seek strength, fearlessness and the resolve to serve others with a full heart.

Bringing the Story Into Daily Life

When you face a problem too big to solve perfectly, remember Hanuman and the mountain - do what serves the goal, even if it is not the neat or expected way. Do not let the fear of getting one detail wrong stop you from acting when someone needs you. Carry the whole mountain if you must; devotion and willingness matter more than a flawless plan.
