Who Is Kalki?

Kalki is the tenth and final avatar of Lord Vishnu in the Dashavatara, the only one yet to appear. The Puranas describe that at the close of Kali Yuga, when adharma reaches its peak, Lord Vishnu will descend as Kalki - a radiant warrior riding a white horse named Devadatta, wielding a blazing sword - to destroy evil and re-establish dharma, beginning a new Satya Yuga.

Kalki Jayanti honours this prophesied avatar and is a day to pray for the victory of righteousness and to strengthen our own dharma.

Kalki Jayanti 2026 - Date

📅 Tithi: Shravan, Shukla Paksha Shashthi 🗓️ Date: Mid-to-late August 2026

Kalki Jayanti is observed on the sixth day of the bright fortnight of Shravan in most traditions. Some communities observe it on Bhadrapada Shukla Dwadashi. Confirm the date followed in your region with your local panchang.

Significance of Kalki Avatar

Kalki represents the eternal promise that dharma never finally loses. However dark an age becomes, the divine will act to restore balance. The avatar is a symbol of hope, justice and the cleansing of the world.

The name Kalki is linked to the destruction of kali (strife, darkness). For the devotee, the deeper teaching is inward: to invite the Kalki spirit is to fight the adharma within - greed, anger and falsehood - and let truth rule the heart.
