Rameshwaram, on Pamban Island off the coast of Tamil Nadu, is home to the Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the four Char Dham shrines of India and also one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

History and Legend

The temple is also closely linked in tradition to the nearby Ram Setu, the bridge said to have been built by Rama's vanara army to reach Lanka.
